 Overview
 Description
This property consists of one main building, a relatively large restaurant/lodgings. The building is pretty fire-damaged, and the roof near the front of the building has caved in. This probably means that it isn't very structurally sound. Also, the building is boarded up very tightly. From what I could see in the windows, there isn't much to see inside, but i couldn't see the kitchen or the restaurant area, or anything important, really, so it could be more interesting than apparant.

  •  Interesting Features
This building is boarded up TIGHT. Even the mail chute has a board over it. Structurally, this building is a bit of a mess. The roof over the front of the structure has mostly caved in, and char marks are clearly visible from the ground. So the most interesting feature would have to be the fire (a suspected arson).

     History
Obviously this was a vibrant restaurant/lodgings not too long ago. The fixtures look pretty modern, and the building seems to be excellent quality. However, it was abandoned (for some reason), and burned down on Nov. 11, 2004. The fire took place under suspicious circumstances (basically, they think it was arson).

    (Nov. 16, 2004)

PICKERING - Police are investigating what's being described as the fourth suspicious fire in less than two weeks in Pickering.

An abandoned motel on Altona Road near Finch Avenue was destroyed by fire Thursday night, police said.

Fire crews responded to the site of the former Robin Hood Inn around 8 p.m. Nov. 11 to find the structure engulfed in flames.

The fire is considered to be suspicious, police said. It's one of several blazes at buildings that were either abandoned or under construction since the beginning of the month.

Police are seeking information as they investigate other blazes:

    - Nov. 1 around 7:45 p.m. a real estate sales building under construction on Rosebank Road caught fire.

    - The next suspicious blaze occurred Nov. 3, police say. Fire broke out in the early morning hours in an abandoned historical building on the 5th Concession north of Whitevale Road.

    - On Nov. 7, fire crews were called to an abandoned house on Taunton Road west of Brock Road.

None of the fires caused any injuries and the cost of fire damage is still being estimated, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-579-1520, ext. 2542, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
     Future Plans
This building will probably be torn down and replaced with some other commercial enterprise. It's a prime location for a business, being at the corner of two relatively busy streets.
