A small, low income neighborhood that just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The wrong place is where Jerry Jones wants to build his new stadium. Wrong time is now.

The Dallas Cowboys wanted a new bigger, better stadium and when team owner Jerry Jones couldnt convince Irving TX (the Cowboys current home) it was in their best interest to do that, he turned to Arlington. They jumped on the idea of building one for him. All it took was a tax increase on its citizens plus a few lease guarantees, some new roads and a lot of land. To make his dream of a new state of the art mega stadium come true he would have to have enough land to build it on. Something had to give. In February of 2005 the Arlington City Council lead by Mayor Cluck (real name yes) voted to fund the Jerry deal, acquire the land, build the stadium and rent it out to Jerry. A good old boy deal made in Heaven. Unfortunately it would cause some residents of a modest neighborhood standing in the path of the Jerry Jones juggernaut to deal with a little Hell. Not all that bad a deal for most. Homeowners willing to sell got fair market value plus $22k pocket money and businesses got $10k. They even threw in some moving expenses. Holdouts were able to negotiate better deals raising the estimated $50 million buyout to almost $100 million. Renters got better than $5k plus expenses. The problem was some people didnt want to move, not at any price. So his Eminent Domainship King Jerry used his attorneys and agents backed up by Arlington and a recent Supreme Court decision to strong arm the holdouts into submission. The battle was over before they could start. Long live the King. Today November 1 2005 the first heavy equipment rolled down a quiet treelined street and started knocking down houses. This Location Data Base entry is dedicated to the displaced and their former neighborhood.
