Syke was a very profitable manufacturer of micro computers in the the 1980's. Mismanagement and competition caused them to go into bankruptcey in the late 80s. They ended up closing in 1990. The building that housed it was never used for anything else.

There were three serious fires here in the past several weeks (Spring 2006) and a firefighter was injured. Firefighters are now barred from entering the structure! City of Rochester claims the owner cannot be located so Rochester taxpayers may have to foot the bill for the remaining demolition that is planned.

None, asbestos abatement began in August 2014 , demolition began in early December 2014. We salute you Sykes.
