     History
Built somewhere in the 1950s. With the over capicity of oil refining in the Montreal Petrochemical complex, It was amongst the several refineries closing in Montreal during the 80s and 90s. This refinery originally shut down in 1985 with the petro-canad/ultramar buyout of gulf canadas refining and downstream assets. Petro-Can bought all of Gulfs assets in ontario and the maritimes but not quebec, later the gulf refinery was partially demolished by ultramar, the tank farm was used by ultramar until thier takeover of Spur oil, whos tank farm had a larger capacity. in the early 90s coastal bought the facility to operate as a petrochemical plant, it made the news as new investment was rare in the area. the project didnt last. the area became quite depressed with the closing of the refineries. the first to disapear was texaco, they closed in 1983-84 when texaco signed supply agreement with Shell, the agreement terminated when esso bought the downstream assets of texaco in 1989. the BP refinery has only its tank farm still standing, the esso refinery is also long gone. as of now the only operating refineries in montreal are Petro-Canada (the old Fina refinery) and Shell.
    gone:
    esso
    texaco
    BP
    Gulf
