An open aqueduct has driven the turbines for many years, and continues to do so today, however instead of drawing untreated water directly from the river, it has been drawing water from a 4' watermain originating at the Lemieux Island Filtration Plant. In recent years it has been renovated internally. The watermain from the filtration plant was replaced in 2006.
