     History
Off a dirt road several miles southwest of Silverpeak, lies the former mining town of Nivloc, Nevada. The silver and gold deposits were first discovered by a Shoshone Indian in 1907, and soon after a mining camp was formed, named after the backwards spelling of one of the first mine owners. The mine soon faded however and it was not until the mid-30s that the Nivloc mine was worked again. This time interest was more substantial, and the property was soon developed with a large steel headframe erected over the 540 foot deep main shaft and a large rail trestle that transported ore from the mine to a large mill nearby for treatment. A townsite was soon formed, and at its peak a post office was established from 1940 to 1943. However the mine was shutdown during World War II, and little work was done on the mine in the post-war years. It now sits idle, and will likely continue to for some time.

     Future Plans
Silver Reserve Corp., the same company working on the Mohawk mine, is also actively drilling in the area around the Nivloc mine and may resume operations on the site.
