Old station building with majestic entrance. However, the condition of the building is bad and the supposedly more interesting bureaux at the top floor are less accessible and the basements are filled with human excrements, sleeping places for junkies and needles.

On October 13, 1843, this station was opened as "station Antwerpen" and was the end of the "Iron Rhine" railway. It was connected southwards to the station Borgerhout (now called Antwerpen Centraal). In 1854, the name was changed into Antwerpen-Hoofdstation/Anvers-Gare-Principal (Anvers Main Station), and later into "Antwerpen-Dokken-en-Stapelplaatsen/Anvers-Bassins-et-Entrepots".
In 1854 the station was connected eastwards with station Dam and the ring line around Anvers. In 1873 the connection with the central station was broken up. A new station building was built with inscription "Goederenstation Antwerpen Dokken" (freight station Anvers Docks), and 4 years later it was connected to station South via the quays of the River Scheldt
In 1990 the "Koninklijke Stapelplaatsen" alongside the Entrepotkaai were torn down, and in 2000 the freight station alongside with the freight station Antwerp-Dam was closed and the connecting tracks were torn up in 2001. The whole area will become part of the park "Spoor Noord".
The Hogeschool Antwerpen will build a new campus at the terrein. The freight halls have been torn down in 2007, while the station building will be torn down in 2008.

The place will be is demolished to make place for a building of the Hogeschool Antwerpen, and the former track areas will become part of the new park spoor noord (north railway park)
