     History
Pesses Chemical was a battery recycling company who obviously dropped the ball. Between 1979 and 1981 the company focused on reclaiming Cadmium and Nickel from dry cell batteries. Only problem is the waste from them was allowed to seep into the ground next door at the storage facility. To add to the poor storage the site is located on top of Paluxy Aquifer.

The Enviromental Protection Agency declared this a superfund site and started cleanup in 1988. They deemed that since the soil was non permiable clay mostly it would not enter the water system.

However both Nickel and Cadmium are carcinogens when inhaled and the soil above was at a toxic level so cleanup was needed.

The contaminated soil was removed and a large cement cap was placed over the area. The warehouse was sanitized as well.

Its most recent use was a computer dump basically and you can find just about any part for an Acer 386 there today.
