W.J. Properties has been buying up the houses on the block since the 1960's when they built an apartment tower just next door. In 2006, the company applied for a permit to demolish the block of houses along Bloor Street West, but the council refused to approve it since the owner didn’t offer up redevelopment plans with the application. Even if people still live in one house on Bloor street, all the 12 others are empty since 2005.
