En 1995, l’établissement possédait une capacité nominale de production de 124 000 tm/an. Le taux d’utilisation de la capacité de production s’élevait à 77 %, et le nombre d’employés, à 680. Slater Steel, en faillite, devait annoncer, en juin 2004, la cessation des opérations à son usine de Sorel-Tracy. En septembre 2004, la Société des parcs industriels de Sorel-Tracy et la compagnie Fagen ont acheté les bâtiments et l'équipement de l'usine.
