 Overview
 Description
This was the summer place of king Kamehameha III. There is not much of any documentation on the site after 1847. It seems to be unknown why it was abandoned and what lead to its deterioration. Historical documentation listed the site as "an old ruin" as early as 1874 and there is no account of what caused the initial destruction of the site, some time between 1847-1874. There is little left of the site other than the remnants of some walls. It is also the site of a heiau complex (sacred temple site).

     History
Kaniakapupu ("the singing of the land shells") is the now dilapidated summer palace of king Kamehameha III and his queen Kalama on Oahu in Hawaii. The palace was completed in 1845 and was a place for entertaining foreign celebrities, chiefs, and commoners. On Hawaiian Restoration Day in 1847, a luau attended by an estimated ten thousand people gathered at the palace.
