Originally named Headland's Guest House, it was one of the largest and most expensive in the area. A liquor licence was granted in 1952 and in 1954 became a public hotel and bar. However over the years a number of additions and changes have seen the building miss out on being listed and demolition was granted in 1983, 1986, 1987, 2000 and 2011.
