1-mile thoroughbred horse racing track often referred to as "Little Saratoga" with simulcasting, a poker room, and dozens of stables and outbuildings. Closed to horse racing in 2009 and finally ended simulcasting and poker events in 2016 when it was sold to a local development company.

Numerous long stables, a few slightly larger buildings stacked with chairs, tall lamps and speakers--all great for photography in the right weather. One building contains an ex-jockey's truck with a number of bizarre action figures glued to the hood.

Opened in 1906 adjacent to the Salem Depot train station and once attracted tens of thousands of people to what was then the small town of Salem. In its early years, it hosted aviation meets, auto and motorcycle racing, and even served as a temporary camp for the US Army during World War I. In 1980, the track's grandstand burnt down, causing the track to be closed for four years until repairs were finished in May of 1984.

Currently the finishing touches are being placed on the mixed-use development Tuscan Village which occupies the racetrack's former location
