     History
In 1800 Ulrich Burkholder and his family settled in Concord{Vaughan Twp.} from Pennsylvania. In later years Ulrich and his family bought 400 acres on the 3rd concession cornering at the Cherrywood village. His children: Ulrich, Abraham, William, Samuel, Michael, and John.

Now I am almost certain this house was of an Abraham Burkholder. Could have possibly been the first Abraham son of Ulrich. Possibly Abraham's son Abraham. I don't know?

October 13, 1843 Samuel Hoover purchased Lot34, Concession 8. Right across the street from this very house{which is lot 35}. Samuel's property was on the Mercer Swamp having been granted in 1806 to Andrew Mercer on his fulfillment of his settlement duties. In 1847 Samuel's eldest son Abraham with his wife Maria Burkholder took possession of the old homestead. 1870 Maria had passed and in 1872 Abraham then married a Susannah Burkholder. At this time they became the owners of about 400 acres of land which included Lot34, Conc8, as well as lots 35,31 and lot30 on concession 7.

Abraham{son of Ulrich} worked the north part of Lot31 conc III. William and Abraham married sister: Eva and Betty Storm. Abraham was a very hard worker, threshing with the horse power machine. He had raised his family there for many of years. Children: Susanna, Joseph, Ben, Margaret, Sarah, Annie, Lizzie, Hannah, Emma, Jane, Keturah, and William. I believe somewhere down the line one of the Burkholders married and with a child named, A. Burkholder moved to this very property.
