Originally built in 1884, this mental health facility has a past checkered with death and abuse. Formerly known as Eastern State Hospital, this asylum by the lake is a truly interesting place and has been touted by more than one expert to be haunted. The original main building burned down in the early half of the 1900's, leaving only one small building today from the original 1884 build. There are multiple buildings that were built on through the years. The decision to finally close down was a hard one for the city to make but they have plans of expanding on the park and ballfields that reside in the area. Officially closed in July of 2013 and plans to demo could start as early as March 2014.
