     History
Located about 30 minutes south out of Yellowknife on Highway 3 is a peculiar collection of abandoned structures. The one that turns your head, grabbing your attention and causing you to pull over is the large cement igloo. The igloo has steps leading up to it, religious memorabilia scattered around it, and fake flowers sitting inside - likely a shrine. There was a crushed Virgin Mary statue inside the igloo. It is surrounded by a wall made of stones. A few minute walk behind the igloo is an abandoned white trailer and red shack. Both in poor condition but fun to poke around. Down the hill and to the left of these buildings is a beautiful red barn-like building. These structures are literally in the middle of nowhere and you can explore as you please.
