Érigée en mai 1846, la chapelle de Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours est le premier lieu de culte de la paroisse de Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Au cours de la même année, un chemin de croix voit également le jour. Vu que cette chapelle ne pouvait contenir que douze adultes, une seconde église-chapelle plus importante fut construite en 1907 dans le rang Sainte-Émélie. Dix-huit ans plus tard, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes se voit doter, malgré certaines oppositions, d’une nouvelle église grâce, entre autres, à une donation importante d’un résidant. Cette nouvelle église peut accueillir 175 fidèles. La même année, l’abbé Cuthbert Fafard fait ses premiers pas à Notre-dame-de-Lourdes. Il est le premier curé de la paroisse et marque le souvenir des citoyens par son dynamisme et son sens de l’entraide.
