This place is pretty large, and has many old remnants and artwork left laying around. There is a nice, untouched piano in one corridor. There is quite a lot of vandalism throughout, but other parts of the building seem untouched. There is A LOT of evidence of squatters, especially on the 2nd floor. This building is much larger than it seems; on a third (recent) explore, I discovered a huge auditorium, and the 'quiet rooms'. This place has several overgrown outside courtyards, tons of rooms/offices, and a laboratory room (behind a very secured door). Sadly, there is some very noticeable degradation from last year, but it's still an amazing place to see!

The William Hall Psychiatric Institute was a hospital that primarily treated/housed children, and at-risk adolescents and teenagers with mental health issues. While I've never found much definitive history on this hospital, today (9/23/2021) I ran into a couple of fellow explorers...one of them had actually been a patient here when he was a teen. This had been his first time exploring the abandoned premises. He told me this place had closed in 2015; and that it did indeed treat children and young adults... some who were placed by their parents, others in situations where a court order was involved. He told me his experience was 'about what one would expect", but was not overly traumatic... though he said that it could be a frightening place, as it housed many youths who were violent, and who were involved in gangs and drugs. It was indeed interesting to hear anecdotes from the places within the hospital that he remembered. I had asked him if the seclusion rooms had been padded, and he confirmed that they had been. He, his girlfriend, and I had quite an interesting day exploring every corner of this place, finding rooms I'd not discovered in the many times I've visited (I will have to share the pics soon).

I don't know for sure, but this hospital, more modern than some of the surrounding buildings, will likely end up being repurposed or demolished, as much of the area is undergoing renovation. *UPDATE 4/2019--While still explorable, this location has been sealed a bit tighter, active construction is present all around it, and there is some construction equipment near the property... get there while it lasts! *UPDATE* 5/2023-- Site has been completely demolished...may she rest in peace.
