Gallery Description
This is one of the original Leonards "subway" cars. It was built as a standard PCC streetcar in 1945 by the St Louis Car Company and ran on the Washington DC transit line until 1962.

It was purchased along with 3 others by the Leonards department store in Ft Worth to carry customers 1400ft from their remote parking lot to their store.

Around 1977 after Tandy took it over they rebuilt the exterior so that none of the original street car appearance could be seen. It served Tandy Center until around 2002.

The McKinney Ave Trolley Association purhcased it in 2003 and redesignated it Street Car #143. They also nicknamed it Winnie because the Tandy attempts to modernize her look more like a Winnibago than a street car.

Its still in operation today, unless its broken down which by some accounts is most of the the time. Some McKinney Ave Trolley employees believe its jinxed. It broke down on its maiden run on the MATA in 2004 and has suffered additional service setbacks on just about every run since. They have it off line now and plan to rebuild Winnie from the trucks up.
