Stone house is OK, one of its garages lost:

http://www.mcall.com/news/local/police/all-b3_5hanovermar28,0,3573739.story

A suspicious fire leveled a garage on a property in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, early Monday, damaging a stolen car inside, Hanover Township and airport authorities said.

The fire broke out shortly before midnight on a property at Willowbrook Road near Race Street owned by Lehigh Valley International Airport, said Robin Yoder, chief of the township's Han-Le-Co Fire Company. He said he believed someone may have set the fire to destroy the vehicle.

''The garage wasn't being rented by anybody,'' he said. ''It didn't start by itself.''

The garage and the vehicle were destroyed, he said.

Yoder said it took about a half-hour to extinguish the fire. About 30 firefighters from five companies — the airport, Han-Le-Co, Allen Township, East Allen Township, and Hanover Township, Northampton County — fought the blaze, he said. No one was hurt.

The vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Forerunner, was stolen from Catasauqua in December, said Skip Fairchild, chief of the airport's police department. Catasauqua police are now investigating the theft, he said.

Fairchild said he doesn't know why the fire was set.

''Who knows other than to potentially cover up the stolen vehicle,'' he said.

Fairchild said his officers regularly check the property, acquired several years ago by the airport as part of an expansion plan. He said it didn't appear anyone had been squatting there.

A Hanover Township fire marshal reviewed the property Monday with a state police fire marshal, Fairchild said. They will look at the property again today, he said.

That's either a stupid comment or a stupid crook...who would set fire to a place to [i]cover up[/] a stolen vehicle? Seems to me that plan backfired.
