Ouch...that must be recent, I don't remember seeing that all broken last time I was there. Let's hope this doesn't happen to the arches at the other locks, esp. #4.

I'm guessing it was structurally unsound and dismantled by the authorities as a safety precaution. It's strange that this section doesn't have the usual dressed stone finish.

I think it was our friend, the MTQ. Kinda funny that whoever it was didn't leave any of the evidence of destruction laying around.

doubt it's the MTQ as the last pillar does'nt look structurally in good shape neither. They would have demolished the 2 unsound sections and not only one, leaving the other all cracked like that... :( and MTQ are big on disclaimer signs and fences...
