Description
(A1091.75) - This shows the CN Tunnel Terminal in Montreal, which was opened for regular traffic by the Canadian Northern Railway on October 21,1918, and only served the Mount Royal Tunnel line. In 1943, CN's Central Station was opened on the site to the south of Dorchester Boulevard. The open area north of Dorchester Boulevard (lower left) was covered over by Place Ville Marie in the early-1960s. Under construction is the Sun Life Insurance building in the foreground. To the south of the Sun Life Building is the Mary Queen of the World Catholic Church.

Yes and now with all the funky high technology that would ease the process, they find a way to bypass all kind of patrimonial laws...and good by....too much dinero....$......Cheaper to build new stuff (that will not even last an 1/8 of those old gems !)

well, one of the sadder events in that neighborhood is when the fairly new (20 years) chapel of the sisters of ste croix at vanier college was converted to a library they simply built 2 floors in there, the c building is an ancient convent that also has very few traces of its history.

My grandparent's house was originally at the corner of Wellington and Galt in Verdun. Around 1930 most of the house was "jacked up" onto to a low riding flat bed type of trailer and moved to Gordon Avenue above Verdun Ave.

One of my aunts used to say she could remember seeing it moved, The original location today is the Metro and the house on Gordon is an apartment building

When they had a flood in the C building in 2001 they had too rip out the walls in the Student help/counselors section and you could see the bricks walls and hardwood flooring, veru gothic. Then the covered it back up with giproc :(
