i miss these old style pumps. There was a station here that had them... you pump like $10, reach over flip the pump off and on, the pump resets and then pump another $10... i knew guys that could do it in a blur...

we always found the "East Texas Credit Card" to be a most reliable method

(12' piece of 1/2" rubber hose)

I'll bet you boys remember the good old Black and Decker hand powered Jack Rabbit Pumps? I still got one although the rubbers getting kinda hard

go you one better... the cops used to leave a key to the police station on a rafter above the door. We'd use that to open the door and inside the door were two sets of keys to EVERYTHING municipal, including the town gas pump just across the driveway. So you'd scamper over, unlock the pump (which was always on), scamper back and replace the keys and then fill your car... me and a friend of mine sat on the upper tracks one night and watched five people pull off the same caper.
ah, life in a small town.
