Yeah, I noticed that. I was hoping to at least be able to get the flash to bounce off the edge of the building below me.

nah, you're much better off propping or bracing the camera on a ledge or board and doing a second or two-long exposure with no flash. Or do that, and use the flash too!

Or use a flashbulb... of course then everyone within 5 blocks will instantly know you're there.

I still laugh at the hundreds of people that go to an indoor show like hockey or monster trucks and take flash pictures from up in the stands. Great idea if you want to get a nicely lit shot of the bald spots on the fellows in the first 10 rows below you.

A "pre-preparation" shot indeed. If you can get a grand photo of that shot, you are near a master photographer.
