  Sort of like "erect"? When we measure lease areas, we have to deduct things like stairwells and elevator shafts from the rentable area. They are referred to as "Major Vertical Penetrations". Inside it makes me giggle every time.

  went to my friends she had a problem wiyh her windows. had to put caulk in her crack

  Cold air penetrates the room, solution is to fill the crack with caulk. If that doesn't work then demo everything and erect a new structure. :-D
