  Well the bunker was inuse for over 30 years. It saw many governments. (and budget cuts)

  It's called the "Deifenbunker" because it was built when John Deifenbaker was Prime Minister. In fact, all 50 were termed "Deifenbunkers" in their day, but only this one at CFS Carp is still known by that name - probably because it's where John Deifenbaker himself would have been sheltered in the event of nuclear fallout.
