18 / 18   96602953.lowres.jpeg

Description
"Artist's conception of the Bevatron"; courtesy Ernest Orlando Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
The Bevalac is housed in the round building. The rectangular annex above housed the generators. The 10 MeV (later, 19MeV) LINAC (linear accelerator) that provided the initial particle beam would be at 4 o'clock, and the accelerated beam emerged into the External Proton Beam Hall (not visible here) at 8 o'clock. The semicircular section on the bottom houses offices.
