These days it's just a big blanket of snow - no sign of any super hospital going up.
Posted by mewthree 2/13/2008 3:37 PM | remove
nawww CD... that whole super hospital was just just a decoy tp destroy something... have you ever heard of a super hospital?

Posted by Charlie_Dunver 3/3/2008 7:22 AM | remove
nope, and when you think of it, building a hospital right besides the busiest freeway interchange in the city is just plain stupid.

What do you mean? Air quality? Traffic congestion? Between the metro, the trains and the highways, it makes for a very accessible site. There should be some good views to the south too.

as anyone who has sat in the back of an ambulance going to the general or royal vic knows, this will be an improvement
Posted by mewthree 3/4/2008 2:27 PM | remove
true, it would be a great spot... when it comes to accessability i suppose.
Posted by Charlie_Dunver 3/5/2008 2:26 PM | remove
So everyone thinks. Trust me, this could very well turn out to make getting to the Vic and the General a piece of cake. They haven't even started making it complicated yet. Of course it's all relative - getting here from downtown could easily be a nightmare.

It is possibly going to be so bad for traffic in that area that one group even drew up a plan that would have a Turcot ramp tunneling into the Falaise to reach the hospital from underneath.

I would only assume they were going to do that.. I would not expect them to take st-catherine over to there and maisoneuve is out of the question.. that would leave sherbrooke which is already packed in the vendome area especially when taking on vehicles from the expressway.
they would probably make some sort of road from down below in the home depot area going up to there.

It seems obvious that car access should be primarily concentrated from the south, given the train tracks and the already congested roads on the north side. Hell, I'd just expropriate that block of Prud'homme and hook the place right into Decarie and the Turcot Interchange. I hope the redesign takes access to the hospital into account. Then again, what's the point? Once Transports Quebec gets involved, disaster is pretty much guaranteed.

And in a few years they are gonna need to tear it apart to redo it and then tear it apart to fix the water main inside it and then redo it and rinse and repeat.

Well, duh. If they built infrastructure that lasted forever, there'd be no more guaranteed work for the collective. Or the union. Or the bureaucracy. Or the retard brother of the sub-minister's mistress. Fuck it. Kill them all.

  lol
Posted by nostra-YOUPPI! 3/6/2008 12:32 PM | remove
well they have already built an offramp from the decarie south just for the super hospital
Posted by Emperor Wang 3/7/2008 2:14 AM | remove
Sweet. Gotta check that out sometime. And the yards, too. That fucking snow bank is a thing of wonder. Damn near obliterates the view of the falaise from the 20.

it was on cfcf news last week that the city has sold the property to smart centres for 10 million. Smart centres wants to put a major anchor (who anchors all smart centres places, walmart)

Someone please get out to the yard next week, get some shots of the snow monster and post 'em here. It's going to be awesome after the upcoming dump is cleared away.

Le Wal-Mart, c'est à la carrière Francon dans le quartier St-Michel.
Posted by nostra-YOUPPI! 3/9/2008 7:26 AM | remove
je me suis tromper de nom, je me mele surtout depuis que francon et lafarge se sont fusionner
Posted by Charlie_Dunver 3/28/2008 4:22 PM | remove
I did hear about development at the old Francon quarry. The first rendition had Saint Michel residents a bit worried but they came back with a modified version, 80% of jobs for St Michel blah blah blah and people are warming up to it now.
