yes it does, it is the backup locomotive, as you can see its a former cn gp9 and not a cp, funny since it plys cp lines, the gp 9 used to do the south shore commuter train till they were shutdown in the 80s they were then moved in to help the carbodies that are in the beauce now

Probably made out of aluminum (the shell, or body). I wish the UP had not taken the "Centennials" out of service. They are the DDA40X, GM's Electromotive Division's largest , and they were monsters. It was said that they looked like two locomotives mounted on one frame.

they basically were, 4 2 axle trucks with 2 engines, they weighed a ton but were lacking in the traction department, and greywolf as for the picture, until they were sold for transit these locomotives were plain black and red with zebra stripes they are only painted silver as some of them have rust, these locomotives were modified with the low hoods by cn in their former point st charles shops, the ones that stayed with cn were re modified in 91 at the shops when they were owned by amf. the cn ones can be seen in lachine at dominion bridge around noon switching the esdc plant and around 4 pm in the lachine industrial park.

If they were heavy, what was the traction problem?

i mean, at low speeds they dont need horsepower they need start stop traction, so a slug is perfect. most railways use em in yard manouevers and norfolk southern has road slugs that even have dynamic brakes
