When we visited the site shortly after they stopped guarding it (which would have been around March or April) I noticed that there were cat food dishes lying around. They still had a little kibble in them, even. The guards were feeding the neighborhood strays. After the demolition started, I noticed the cat dishes again. They'd been moved to the north-west corner, just outside the break room window. And on at least one occasion, the dish had been recently filled. After a nighttime visit I saw what must have been one of the cats. Small, scrawny tabby, incredibly people-shy. Soft-hearted guys, these guards. Even with the toilet problem.
