Location DB > Canada > Ontario > Balaclava (Renfrew County) > Balaclava Ghost Town > Mutt's road trip > QD0001012.JPG

7 / 18   QD0001012.JPG

Description
I have seen a few ghost town websites refer to this a being the town water tower. Clearly one can see that this is not so. This tower is actually a sawdust and woodscraps burner and was once connected to the mill by the wooden gangplank. The mesh on the top is a spark arrester.

Spark arrestor. It keeps most of the burning embers that float up in the heat confined so they dont set the area on fire.
