that does it, I am saying it. I would go and take what I thought I could use.

It is pure bullsh*t that this stuff is left behind. If it was so important, they would have cleared it out first thing and put it into secure storage.

I bet you all can see where I am going with this.

Don't worry, you wouldn't be the first....

I know it violates the "take only memories/photographs leave only footprints" message, but I think it is simply retarded to leave stuff like this. I can play "holy saint" and leave it behind, then someone else comes in and takes it.

I know it is probably a very thin and weak justification for taking it, but think about this:

If I took everything pictured above, and anything else I wanted until I filled my truck up, and take it home, then after figuring out what it does and if I could use it, I decide to sell some of it. I would find a use for the old servers they just left laying around, and probably some of the test equipment, but some of it is probably useless "junk" to me.

I put it up on eflea, etc and get cash for it. I can afford to put food in my stomach, fix my truck, make a bill payment etc.

Chances are though to, I would keep all of it, and learn how to use it, then possibly donate it. The equipment in the above computers looks ancient, almost mainframe like. Suppose I get my fun out of it/learning, and donate it to a computer museum?

Now, I leave it all behind, and resist the urge to load my truck up. A crackhead then breaks into the place, and rips it all out, then sells it for quick $$$. Chances are he/she will continue to sell stuff, just to get one more high. They don't care about what it is, their brain just sees computer stuff = $$$.

or worse, someone breaks in, and vandalizes it all. Breaking it up, painting all over it, etc etc. Another wasted use.

Or, someone breaks in, and decides to start a fire!

With the exclusion of what I would do with it, don't you think it is a high waste of good equipment? I didn't even factor in the fact that it may all just get tossed out (into a landfill, imagine all the heavy metals/chemicals present in alot of the equipment leeching into the ground water)

Again, if the company actually cared about the equipment, they would remove it as soon as the doors closed. It is 2004, and it *could* still be there, or in a landfill.

Kmart here in las vegas when they closed their store removed all of their equipment, (upgraded their computers a year or so before) and sent it to a storage location. Why didn't they do that here? Because they outsourced to china/india, and could care less about it all at this point.

</end rant>

ok. and you're right, it did get outsourced. but yea, there's 1000's of dollars worth of crap in that place that might still be worth that.

why didn't they have a guard also? I am just lead to believe they could care less about everything, and that is evident by leaving the toxic chemicals laying around. Again, if they cared, everything would have been cleaned up.

Sorry for ruffling feathers, I am guilty of a strong opinion (too strong alot of the time)

This is a public address cabinet...DuKane amp on the bottom, limiters/compressors in the middle, mixing on the top.

The place shut down and the company left. Anything left is waste. It doesn't look like a sealed building where the owner wants to keep everything. It will go for scrap or just go right to the landfill. I think it's better if somebody can use it, learn with it, get some enjoyment out of it, surf porn with it. Put it to good use.
