Seeing the incandescent light over the flourescent reminds me of when renovations were done at WPH. They put in a false ceiling, installed new electrical fixtures (lights and exit signs) and then just cut the power to the old fixtures that were in the ceiling cavity and leave them there. I don't remember which building this was done in though.

In this case though, I suspect the globe forms part of the emergency lighting system. Prolly powered off the Hospitals' 50v AC Red Phase.

Sounds right. I remember those lovely boxes with two lights on top. They worked great at another site I was at when the power failed that I spent 45 minutes escorting people out of a pitch black building. Turned out that the breaker for the circuit that charged them was turned off to save power.
