Elevator machinery found in any elevator equipped building in any country. Seeing this reminds me that I am very lucky to be living in a relatively peaceful country.

FIAM was an Italian company and is not in business, according to Wiki. Many parts of Africa used to be German or French colonies, so I was expecting one of those.

Maybe sit up there with some tools and lube, stick a crank on it and see if you can move the elevator. Even better, see if you could get the motor to work.
