I don't know.

After showing Roadwolf the location and going on about how bad I wanted to see inside, we made plans. The next day, we drove around the site, to make sure nothing odd was about. We parked and after walking along the perimeter, we spied an easier opening than the one we had originally sighted, and made our way in. After going through some brush, we were out in the open for a bit, but quickly went around the corner and out of sight from anyone looking in from the outside. We spied an open door, and went in. The place was huge, but fairly empty. We started taking pics and making our way to the other section of the building. We wern't far in, standing in a short hallway between sections, when we heard voices and movement. We froze, trying to determine if they posed a threat, and if they were moving. We stood and continued to listen, and heard them moving stuff around, but not moving towards or away. As quietly as I could, I stepped to the end of the hall and peeked my head around the corner. In distance (the buildings are very long) I saw two figures standing and talking, but it was so dim, I couldn't make out if they had on any sort of uniform or work wear. I went back to Rw and filled him in. We decided to skip that section and try out another. So we leave that building and cross the yard into another area. We see a door that is slightly ajar, and Rw looks in to see if the coast is clear. It is, and we go in. In that area, we had no problems, but Rw did see a sleeping area for a bum, and he also thought he saw someone down the hall, but if they were there, they didn't want to have anything to do with us. There is lots of cool stuff to see here. The floor both amazes and confounds me. It's concrete, with wood slats or wood bricks laid over it, depending on the area. I don't under stand what the use of wood bricks is for. For safety? For comfort? It would take an awfully long time to lay all of them, and it seems to me, that they would need to be replaced frequently. All of the bricks were coating in black stuff, from heavy use or the absorbstion of stuff, I don't know. The neat things about that section were the assembly lines snaking around, and the tented area. Neither Rw or I could figure out what that would be for. You can see leftover from all eras of the factory, from the Studebaker "S" at it's orgin, to metal parts that were never shipped out. I wanted to climb to the water tower, and explore the roof more, but we would have been way to visible for that. After we had finished with the area, massive by itself, it was late in the day, and we were hungry.

I would like to explore every building on the site, but this is a monumental task. It would really be impossible to see it all in one day. I don't live here anymore, and it's slated to be demolished within the next year or two, so I doubt that my goal will come to fruition, but there is always hope. If your truly into exploration and you're in the area, this place is a must see.
