First time in

Dokk and I hit the old Eastern Star home on Sunday the 29th of October. Sunny day and visibility was good. We got there about 9 AM and made entry. I have been checking this site often and never saw anyone other than a tractor-brushog mowing the property, but there has to be a caretaker who comes by on a regular basis, as we saw a lot of entry points into the main building that had been repaired or secured.

Once on the property, got into the site plant and found the boilers and such. There is a steam tunnel that goes from this to the main building. The two story structure in the back is probably a caretakers residence with garage space on the first floor and apartments on the second. We got in the west, second floor apartment but the door to the east was locked. There is a carport like structure behind this and we didn’t bother with that.

All the main structure can be accessed. It’s mostly rooms such as you would find in a nursing home or hospital. Appearantly, the building had been used to house Katrina Refugees and we found many beds with blankets on them, made up. Kind of eerie. ?The center stairway will take you to the attic where you can see the big star of the front drive. The basement can be accessed from behind a door to the main office or at a stairwell in the back of the dinning room kitchen. Be careful when you find the lower basement where the steam tunnels connects. We found hypos, small baggies, a spoon and candles and figure it for a shooting gallery (heroine for those who don’t know). We didn’t see or encounter anyone on the site but after checking out the office building (big structure on the west side, which the back door was unlocked) we almost met Arlington’s Finest. Luckily he was sitting in the patrol car and didn’t notice me slowly close and lock the door. We waited him out till he left and then left (he was parked right by our entry portal in the fence). Took some outside pictures and headed home.
