Y Oh Y

Why oh why do we insist on destroying our past?
Who knows...
I got word that this cool old building was slated for demolition so I headed out to take a look. The front doors were open so I let myself in and could hear breaking glass and de-construction sounds coming from somewhere upstairs so I quietly took some shots of the main hallway and main room before heading down to the basement. When I got back up to the first floor, I wanted to get a decent shot of the stairway and, since the little Fuji Finepix (I can't afford a real camera...) doesn't like low light, I took the chance on using the flash and heard a male voice from upstairs and down the hall say "Did you just see a flash of light over there?" I headed upstairs and yelled "Camera flash; not a muzzle flash....Don't shoot!" I found a couple of puzzled workmen upstairs who were working alone with minimal tools tearing out window frames and breaking windows and comvinced them I was with some fictitious local building conservation group and had been sent to get some photos of the place before it was gone. They seemed to buy the story and I scooted past them and set my tripod up and got some more shots while they followed me around and kept insisting that I needed a hard hat to be in there. I said I'd be quick and didn't have my hard hat with me and just kept moving. ANYhow, I got all I could and split before the news crews and the REAL Dallas Preservation Society people and security showed up, acording to 2X who went by a little later so all is well and nobody was injured but we're losing a damn fine early 1900's institutional building.
