But all the real cool stuff I can't go near! Date: Sun Jun 23 01:27:06 EDT 2002 Name: Avatar-X Location: Toronto, ON Homepage: Comment: Does anyone have any information on the R. L. Hearn Generating Station, at 440 Unwin Ave, near Cherry Beach, downtown toronto? I went there today and snapped some pictures, there was a guard in the booth. He told me it had been unused for 20 years and that an american movie company had leased it. He said he still made patrols. I scoured the perimiter, and found that getting by the fence is very easy (I didn't go in). Here are some pictures: http://www.theforumisdown.com/uploadfiles/061602/hearn1.jpg http://www.theforumisdown.com/uploadfiles/061602/hearn2.jpg http://www.theforumisdown.com/uploadfiles/061602/hearn3.jpg Does anyone have any information at all about this place? Media, it's "the abandoned Thane aluminum smelter in Keswick, on Warden Ave. (5th Concession), just north of Ravenshoe Road". If we dig up the map they gave us we'll throw up a scan or something. Hope this helps. Both times (once during the day and once during the evening) we just walked onto the property and gained access to any buildings we wanted (except the powerhouse) and then we left several hours later without incident. I explored my first drain down here in Markham and it was so much fun. Discovered the use of those folding aluminum scooters as a very useful tool in exploring long drains! There are also more expensive, bigger scooters qwith bigger wheels that work even better but are more expensive. Down here there's a drain with a two storey waterfall if that interests you... this was my very first drain and is perfect for beginners with and easy to access entrance, evidance of always low water levels, and a nice waterfall. Me and some of my friends are checking out drains all over here now, as well as rafting in $20 wal-mart inflatable boats in the many creeks. fun fun. I just had the nerve and the guts and some friends, and went to the malt plant a few hours ago this night. My first infiltration ever. I read all the reviews and brought all the right equipment. Unfortunatly my friends were lesser well prepared, and we were only inside about 45 minutes. It was long enough to get to the top room where the silo and track machines are... what an awesome trip. I plan to go again soon! Does anyone have any excursions planned or something? I would love to see the whole plant with a guide or whatever, since all my friends are wusses. How's the metronome thing anyways, is that still possibility of happening? Thanks! contact: [email protected] Date: Sat Jun 8 07:43:03 EDT 2002 Name: Snee Location: Homepage: Comment: Yikes. We weren't even in Toronto on the seventh. I don't know who that could have been, but they don't sound subtle. Sweet job guys but a LOT of people noticed you - remember that discretion is the better part of valour. . |
