Since the downstream waterfall is all but impassable when the water is running too high to chimney the vertical pipe, we experimented with a few methods of access. The first was the nylon rope shown here, with which we could pull ourselves awkwardly into the upper pipe. Eventually a more elegant solution, also shown here, presented itself. Unfortunately someone has since taken this ladder and sold it for scrap or something, although someone has recently taken to leaving an old wooden ladder here. We don't know who it is but they haven't signed our guestbook.
