It arrived today. No review yet since with index it tops 700 pages, it's gonna take me a minute. I'm pretty happy, got one signed by Richard Kaczynski and with S&H it was 30 bucks total. For a bio of Crowley I will recommend The Eye in the Triangle by Israel Regardie - for the personal touch of someone who knew, lived and worked with him and puts it all out there. He started writing Crowley at age 18 then when he barely turned 21 Crowley invited him to England to be his secretary - quite the adventure! Like most of Crowley's relationships the two had a colossal falling out but in the book Regardie seems to regret the ruined friendship and seems to be reaching out, or wanted to - I don't know if they ever reconciled.

I don't believe they ever did. Reminds me of the Freud/Jung schism-pretty charged.
I've found a lot of Regardie's stuff useful, his Tree of Life was one of the first I read. Golden Dawn, The One Year Manual, Garden of Pomegranates, and The Middle Pillar all followed, don't think I'll need to read another bio on Crowley tho, but who knows. Symonds has Crowley's last words as "Sometimes I really hate myself." For all his study and practice, seems the fission was a bit incomplete for one who claimed to hold the exalted grade of Ipissimus(or was it only Magus, I don't recall)
There is a relatively interesting and recent B grade kinda sci-fi-ish movie about Crowley's ideas but I don't remember the name of it(maybe Chemical Wedding). A new film is due out soon too- In search of The Great Beast 666 or some such title. Course there is always Anger's stuff--trippy.
