| | | Well, first step is seeing if there's a way past without going over. Hole in the fence, weakness along the ground, etc. That's always worked for me.

| | | Razor wire sucks. DO NOT throw a carpet over and expect to be home-free. You'd need to throw a roll over and climb over the (not-unrolled) roll. A single layer of carpet will get sliced just about when you're halfway over. Climb the gate, a corner, or under the fence. Other options include modifying the razor wire (who'd notice the points snipped off, they're what slice the worst).

| | | I've never climbed over razor wire itself let's hope I can keep it that way seriously, find another way around it or "find" another way.

| | | Stretched taught, like barbwire usually is: Very very carefully. In rolls like it should be? I avoid it at all costs. Edit: Theoretically though, some wire-mesh backed carpeting, two layers thick.... [last edit 6/8/2010 4:04 AM by MindHacker - edited 1 times]

| | | I'd never even think of it with normal chainlink or barbed wire when you can just climb over it, but what about bringing a shovel if there's razor wire and dig under?

it would be much easier to cut the fence. if you cut a vertical slit, you can get in and it's hard to notice when walking by.

| | | I guess it all really depends on the location and the situation. It might take an extra minute or two of digging, but then you're not damaging property and would be harder to charge you for B&E (not saying you wouldn't, just harder). Also, depending on the location, with a hole you could always cover it up when you're done if you want to not make the place wide-open. Anyway, it doesn't matter w/o knowing the location. I say drive a car through the fence and walk though.

| | | razor wire is tough. Dunno what you can use that is practical. Handled this stuff a few times, ripped by damn pants to shreds.
Requires these sexy gloves
for plain barbed wire, Some fellow explorers told me about using those emergency fire blankets, it seemed to work when I used one. Plus doubles as a nice comfy blanket when you need to sleep over somewhere.

Thats what i always do. Corners are usually the easiest because they have the straight post and not the slanted. So it makes it hell of a lot easier.

| | | Even better if there's a gate. The posts that the gates swing from almost always have a gap above them (with barbed wire anyway. I've never dealt with razor wire.) Hopefully the gap is big enough or you are small enough for you to fit through. That being said razor wire scares the hell out of me. I'd still find a different way. I liked The Corley One's suggestion about the vertical slit. If you were able to hide it behind one of the fence posts or something else I bet it would be almost invisible!

Hahaha love it! I had a similar situation when visiting a mill one time. I followed the fence all the way down to the end. It went down a hill, then extended over a river (had about an 8ft drop). The end of the fence swung like a gate, so one person held it over while the others climbed around it.

How would you go about making one of these vertical slits?
