| | Old oil refinery. < on 5/30/2010 6:57 PM >
| | | Hey all, first thread. These were taken by a friend of mine on a trip to an abandoned oil refinery. I consider it my first real UE trip, and it was incredible.

| | | That's pretty fucking cool. Refineries are fun. What's up with the weird flared stacks on those cooling-tower-esque looking things? Pic #1 in the first post, #2 in the last post. In the first picture they look kind of like pieces of a cooling tower... not so much in the second one, though. Cooling towers sure as fuck don't have stacks on them, though. And they don't really look like boilers, either. Any insight? [last edit 6/15/2010 8:36 AM by person - edited 1 times]

| | | Nice job.... I like the one with the palm tree growing up through the pipes, the 3rd one is amazing, and the last one is neat-with the moss. This place looks awesome, thanks for sharing

Yeah, they definitely arent cooling towers, they even have 3 relief valves on the tops of em. They are either some sort of heating system or relief system, or both.

That was probably my favorite find. I'm not sure how long the place has been abandoned (it's in the db somewhere), but nature had definitely began taking over again. I look forward to going back some time with my own camera.
