| | | Posted by kraig So I realize this thread maybe a little off topic by now, but I found (and explored) a place I think is very similar to your barn. Between Lone Tree and Castlerock, to the left of I-25 if youre going South, is what looks likes a white house on the hill with an outhouse in the back. I walked up to it, outhouse looks normal, house looks normal, but alas there was no lock or anything on the door! So I went in. There was literally nothing inside that would lead me to believe it was used as living in at any point in time (besides the outhouse). No stairs, no rooms, no windows. But, lots of electrical equipment. See photos.
| strange. did the electrical stuff seem to be working, or being used at all?

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

| from what I have read these were related to phone service, forget what exactly but something like that. I have seen this building many times, and always wanted to check it out. I have seen many similar buildings south of pueblo like this also

| | | Posted by miirkat Very cool pics I've come across similar places, for instance there is a place that is pretty much in blatant view but no one would look at it twice. I believe it is some type of cell phone transmission place, because the place I have in mind is actually on top of a condo type thing next to a public park, they placed fake brick walls in front of all the antennas so you can't see them, but on closer inspection the brick walls were really half assedly made, kinda like paint and sticks half ass. I've heard of another place where a antenna was disguised as a tree, and again no one would think of it twice, but the closer you got to it you could tell it was very poorly disguised. tis just kind of creepy, i dunno. Thanks for sharing btw.
| Almost all the Cellular antennas out here are made up to look like big fake trees. (ok, they're supposed to look real I guess). At first they only had one style. So you'd be here in the middle of the desert, and then just outta nowhere there'd be this HUGE pine tree, chillin all by itself somewhere, with cell panels hanging off it and painted brown. Then you're like "wait that's not a tree!" (d'aw!) Then they finally got another kind, and then they started doing them to look like palms. Now they've got several different models to better fit into the arboriculture of the local area. 1. Palm Cell Tower 2. Redwood Cell Tower 3. Redwood or Pine Cell Tower 4. Bayberry Cell Tower

| | | Posted by robtastic ok, so here's a small update. about a week ago, we took a meter reading. we stopped by there on our way back from eaton with dreski (pictures coming later) and took another reading. here is what we found.... in ~5.8 days, the barn has used 29 KWH. That comes out to about 4.9 a day. Given that there's 4 big flood lights on there, I would say that accounts for the electricity. a fridge or freezer uses about 1 kwh a day (if it's relatively efficient). so there could be something else in there, but not much. looks like its just a barn that's obscenely locked down.
| 4.9kWh works out to be about 500W of usage for 10 hours. This is about right for floodlights. And as someone pointed out they aren't yellow but more blue, this leads me to believe they're probably mercury vapor or fluorescent. Oddly, a friend of mine's in laws have like 70 acres near us. They plan on building a house one of these days, well they have electricity run to a tiny horse stable. The only things they have powered are a well pump and a floodlight. All of which are off. But they have electricity there so when they finally get around to building a house, it's already there. I would also like to see the disappointment that awaits. Go drill a hole through something and shoot a picture. That's easier then full B&E.
