| | iPhone Apps < on 12/6/2013 12:58 AM >
| | | Not sure if you know this, but I only take photos with my iPhone, which is a major handicap in low-light situations. I downloaded a 99 cent long exposure app, and here are the unedited results from this past weekend:

Also, I went back to an older location, and reposted the new photos into the old thread, which I've been told is really dumb. So if you don't mind, here they are again:

| | | Nice. Those shots came out really well. Which app are you using? I don't currently use a long exposure app but would love to check out whatever you used here. And speaking of iPhone camera apps, if you haven't tired it, you might want to check out ProCamera. It lets you set focus and exposure points independently and also allows you to turn on an anti-shake feature, where you can't shoot unless the phone is being held still. Helps a lot with reducing camera shake in low light.

I'm using AvgCamPro. It lets you lock a focus with a light on the subject (i used a tripod for steadiness), and then takes the average of x number of shots, layering them together. You can choose between 1 and 128 or something like that. I'll have to look into ProCamera and see what it can do. Also, world, meet Roger. We found him while exploring. He was really high up, so i had to zoom quite a bit to post.

| | | without question the camera apps from this dude are hands down the best out there. you will NOT be disappointed with any of them i can promise you that! http://jag.gr/ pure shot and 645 pro are remarkable. you can shoot in raw and save the images as HUGE tiff files if you so choose. nice pics by the way! sure i would prefer to shoot with my DSLR but i have been amazed at the quality of images these apps produce.

| | | Looks like there are apps for Android but I don't think my phone is not capable of long exposures.

Yeah, I got a little $10 iPhone tripod that I can take apart and use as a mount on a real tripod. Any motion and its burry. There's also this neat trick for busy places you want to LOOK abandoned. Because it takes the average of many photos, if you set it up pointed at a busy street, it will average out all the moving things (like people and cars), leaving an empty city behind. I'll have to work on taking a few to show you guys.
Checking out jag.gr now! I'll eventually upgrade to a DSLR. For now I'm just trying to get the best out of my phone.

| | | Wow. I did not think the iPhone had that kind of ability. I'm going to have to check out that app. Thanks for sharing. Badass pictures all around.

| | | This video explains the app, though pretty poorly. I would suggest choosing 32 or 64 photo averages for low light, shining a light on your subject and hitting the "L" focus lock, and then shining a flashlight the way you'd light normal long exposures. Then save the image it gives you, as well as a darker and lighter one, so you can toy with them later. You'll see what I'm talking about in the video. I still have no idea what they're doing at the end with the noise canceling thing with the white paper. But I guess it isn't that important. http://youtu.be/dU-x2x8_Ur4

| | | I tried this app and it works surprisingly well. I like it alot! good find! The white paper thing is to remove "banding" type of noise. Caused by the inferior construction of the iphone camera. By using the paper as a default, it is able to cancel out some of the banding in the picture
