One of the very first abandoned buildings I ever "discovered" (Before I was on UER and realized other people had been here before) was recently renovated and added to the registrar of Historical Buildings in Ontario.
At one point its fate was unclear, there were several proposals and the one that looked like it was going to win would have the building demolished and turned into apartments. I'm quite pleased with what actually ended up happening. Gives me faith in some of the other beautiful abandonments in the area.
It's quite stunning what new doors and windows can do to a place... I never made it inside when it was abandoned and it looks like the same story will be told now that it is active. It is owned by a company who does film-related rock climbing and rigging. Their website is available here if you're interested:
