En La Puntilla in El Salvador, we came across this hotel. Locals told us it was abandoned when tides started to come more inland. Apparently it has survived 3 earthquakes too. Awesome arches, cool religious symbolism on the ceilings, gang grafitti (MS controla - ¡peligro!).
The city of San Salvador has tons of amazing abandoned buildings, railway stations, etc., from when the city's rich lived in the city center before massive population increases, the civil war, and the gang problems of today. We didn't go in any abandoned structures in the city this time around because the gangs apparently squat in a lot of them... and that's a little beyond my bravery/stupidity level.
