| | | Generally, if I notice a place, I'm on my way somewhere and don't have time to explore it, so I put it's address in my phone, then do a bit of research and explore it later. As for "breaking in" as has already been said, this is a bad idea. If caught, instead of a trespassing ticket, you can get a felony, and it ruins the place for everyone else. If you do want to get in, and can't find a way, consider climbing up to an entrance on the roof, or just wait, eventually someone else will make a POE, or someone will leave a door/window open. For police, just make sure no one sees you going in, and you don't trip alarms, and you should be fine. Even if you get caught, as long as they realize you're just taking pictures, you should be fine. While using a gopro to monitor the front door is not a bad idea, it would probably not go over well if you get caught, and they find that you had surveillance set up on the entrance. Personally, I'd skip watching the entrance, and just make sure I'm careful about being seen.

| | | I generally like to take my time, do research, and think things out for a bit. I like to try to learn the history of a location, even if I never plan to post it publicly for fear of giving away too much. There have been a few times, however, where I didn't have the luxury of checking things out in advance and just had to go for it. Luckily, they have all been positive experiences so far. I'm pretty patient about watching a site over time in the hopes that it gets opened up by someone (or that an easier route appears). It's always a drag, however, when a place is demolished before you ever get a decent opportunity. Regrets, regrets... (Damn you, old MOHAI location!)
