(These photos are from 2016/07/17) This is the farthest distance I've ever gone to explore an abandoned building. We saw a few photos of the place on the Internet before we set out, and knew there was some neat junk inside, but we were not prepared for how
much junk. Easily the most stuff I've ever seen in one place before. Sportscar was huge and Hydro was cool, but Toxic here won't be beaten in the garbage dump competition.
The photos are bit sloppier because of high heat and humidity that day, and I developed a headache early on from the foul air in the lower levels.
01: Further Scouting 02: ScreenThis is the first of many,
many televisions in this place.
03: Everything's Coming Down 04: To the Floor 05: Shopping Cart 06: A Lawn Tractor 07: IBM Personal System/2There's no way this little guy still works. Still, we'd like to have a portable PSU on hand to test things like this.
08: Cluttered Back Room of Sorts 09: Double PinballSeeing the ruined arcade machines made my heart ache.
10: Brownie 11: An UmbrellaYour explanation is as good as mine.
12: Nature's Window 13: Black and NeonThis was part of a laser-tag arena, just beyond the arcade. Reluctantly used the flash here because there was no way my little maglite was going light-paint this area.
14: ExtendedOnce again I forgot to focus the camera.
15: Irrational Application 16: No Future 17: Purple Screens 18: The Motherload 19: Salvation 20: Going DownThese stairs took us further down into the building, onto the first floor (we started out on the second). This is where things started getting bad.
21: Hoarding 22: Lightsource 23: Things and StuffIt's like the entire building vomited everything down to this floor, to loosely quote my friend. Due to the sheer lack of floorspace and a chunk of missing floor right in front of the door, this whole area was unexplorable. Maybe we could have made the leap... and maybe we couldn't.
24: Consignment OverviewRusted pieces of metal hung all over, there is virtually no exposed floor to walk on, and everything is slippery. This room was the site of our first-ever urbex accident - my friend slipped and splashed foot-first in a cooler filled with some of the most disgusting water I've ever seen.
25: OlympiaThis Olympia De Luxe typewriter had the misfortune of sitting on the floor of this awful place. Much like the Super Sterling upon its discovery, every component of this machine was seized.
26: Olympia (2)That didn't stop me from hauling it onto a table though.
27: Olympia (3)One can see the condensation on the machine. Everything in here was wet. The condensation alone was probably enough to cause the damage that it did to this poor thing. I'm sure it was nearly immaculate when it was first brought here. Alas... I left it up on the table. I like typewriters, if you haven't noticed.
28: Zenith Laptop (Opened) 29: Oh God What 30: More Consignments (3)
Going through this door got us 20 feet down the hall from where we first entered the consignment store - 20 minutes ago.
31: Leafy CavernSome point after exiting the consignment store, we ended up in an arcade/minigolf area. It was substantially darker here than this photo makes it seem, with a humidity so off the charts that there was a fine mist over in the right side of the room. It was an eerie place to be.
32: Pseudo Silhouette 33: More Minigolf 34: The Store 35: A Sodden Place 36: Entrance and ExitWhat do you mean I'm not the first to take this photo?
37: The Happiest Illuminati TriangleI wanna rule the world from the shadows, onii-chan!
38: More Junk 39: Watertight 40: Moon Door 41: Neon Wires 42: Moldy Pillow 43: Final Room (Right)Having seen everywhere we felt capable of seeing and being hungry and weary, we decided to call it a day.
Epilogue Back in the Motherload room, my friend found a bootleg DVD titled "This Ain't Star Trek" and "Drunk Girls Gone Wild at Party".
We brought it home to see if we could read it.
We could.
