Forgive us our trespasses

| | | Posted by bobbyl16 Personally i have been arrested 4 times, all for assault, 2 aggravated, spent the night in jail once. 2 of them took a year in court to clear up. I think because of my past experience with the police, that the trespassing accusations will not scare me too much. Maybe stay calm enough to fib my away out of it.
| Well that escalated quickly Kinda makes me feel like the baby on the playground with my paltry array of trespassing charges. Don't get too complacent with the cops though - it doesn't matter what you did; it matters what they think you did. So as soon as they run your name and see charges like that, they won't be nearly so nice to you, and will question your motive for being there. True even if you were acquitted, because they're not risking their safety on the off chance you got off on a technicality. Also what did you do to make two of them aggravated? I'm a little skeptical that your hands are totally clean myself... Posted by Kippy Yeah, it was shitty, but at least I finally got to see the basement. I'd rather not be $200 poorer but I'm grateful I wasn't treated like a punk vandal, or a terrorist.
| Don't just pay the fine. Threaten to fight it in court, you can usually take a plea and haggle the prosecutor down by a fair bit. Other than the fine, I'd say your encounter ended about as well as it could though.

| I took a couple photos... I wish I took the whole thing when I first found it. There were pictures from the company picnics, Christmas parties, a few from some road trip that 4 employees took, and a bunch of some Japanese guys touring the factory. I'm never going to leave delicate items inside a building ever again... Between this, that chemical factory, and Solvay Coke, I've learned my lesson. Too much cool history has been lost forever.

| | | For many years I worked the door is some bad places. In my first aggravated assault, i was jumped by 4 guys, the football player of the group rushed my legs, i sidestepped, and helped his head into the wall. In court i stayed very calm and respectful, and the judge obviously saw that they were out for trouble, even being arrogant in court. It was still one year of stress and trouble. The second one, was a guy, that i kicked out, that ended up being the nephew of one of the most prominent lawyers in the city, i spent the night in jail. All i did was spin him around and drag him outside, this was after he took a swing at me. He claimed i hurt his knee. Another year of court that i ended up winning, if anything it taught me a little who the system works and how to talk to police and judges to win my points. Often charges are pressed because the person wants to sue for money after...With time in court if you stay calm and ask the right questions, it comes up. At work i have been stabbed with a butcher knife, hit with a steel bar on my head, had a 9mm in my face, countless death threats , had to settle things with bikers in abandoned warehouses, not fun meetings. The guy with the butcher knife, i bent his arm 90 degrees the opposite way your joint bends, slowly, him i really wanted to hurt. The guy with the steel bar , was going to do the same, but a biker that knew me well, pleaded that i didn't , the guy worked for him. I was on the national team in judo, and i have 5 pro fights in MMA, my fight stats are on sherdog. just to say, that i never hurt anybody for nothing. I was not a jerk, i was there to make money and laugh. would talk for a hour if i could avoid trouble, and if it had to get physical, i rarely ever hit,I didn't need to, i could control them easily with my grappling. All this, and it is a small fraction, to say, that it gave me a bit of experience to know the system, or at least how to react within it. Because there is tons i still dont know.

| | | You know I'm also fairly new and have only been to 5 or 6 sites and most of them were fairly abandoned so nobody cared. But one or two have been risky and I've only had one scare with police, well, actually base security. So here is the story, I live near an active US Air Force Base and spend a lot of time running around on base and exploring. There isn't much to see on the base, but while exploring I happened upon an old section of the base from the 1940s and 50s that is mostly abandoned or used as storage. The area I had stumbled upon was an old barracks that had been used by different groups such as boy scouts up to about 2011, guessing by the dates that were still sketched up on the boards. Well, anyway, after spending about an hour going through these old barracks buildings and one larger maintenance shop, ( my guess based on the building construction ), I decided to leave. I had one last building to go through that was an old Chemical Training building, but decided not to because I didn't have a flashlight on me ( rookie mistake I know, also didn't plan on Urbex that day), so I began walking back towards my car. As I got in and was driving out I noticed a little guard house I figured would be neat, and only take a second to look at. So I parked the car and at that same moment I happened to look over my shoulder to the left and what was coming down the road, only the base Security Forces. I decided to stay in the car and wait for them to pass, then dash. I wasn't sure why they were there, as I believe nothing I did, minus the chem building and maintenance shop were locked buildings, but the government doesn't need much reason to act. The SF truck drove by slow and turned into where I had just left, and as he did I drove away and out the back gate to continue with my day elsewhere. Not really a run in, but as of now that's the closest I've been to potential trouble with law. I'm going to try to put up a thread on the picture forum of the pictures I took there, it wasn't much but it was unique.

| First off, welcome! I left a comment on your log entry as well. Since you're new here, I figured I'd make a suggestion I wish someone had made to me sooner regarding the photo posts: Use a third party and link it. The quality will be better and it is easier to do, IMO. I use Flickr, but I'm guessing the other sites are just as easy. On Flickr, just grab the BB code in Medium format, copy-and-paste it into your post, and you're good to go. It's also a great way to shamelessly self-promote all those other awesome shots you might have too.
