| | | I did a two-day road trip with a couple buddies, bouncing around the province to visit a bunch of locations. It was tons of fun, saw some amazing locations, took tons of pictures, had plenty of deep conversations, and listened to lots of music. Was pretty cheap too since we slept in the car (I slept in the trunk in case you were wondering how 3 people could all sleep in one car)and brought all our food. All we had to pay for was gas. One of the guys I went with, previously we tried to something similar but on bikes, as in bicycles, and head from Ottawa to Toronto, but we planned poorly, slept in, and the weather was horrible... We only got to Kingston by the first day, when the plan was to be another 80ish km west by end of day (Mostly my fault, during the previous summer I had biked 260 km in 15 hours so I figured we could do 200 km in 10. Didn't even bother checking the weather and went for a tempo run beforehand, such arrogance lol). The next day one of the bike wheels popped and that was the end of the adventure. Still, it was tons of fun! We learned a lot and got great stories from the trip.

| | | Doing something like this is a long term goal of mine. I'd love to either take a camper or retrofit a van to live out of, take a few months off work, and travel the country. Maybe I'd use a bus if I ever found some friends who enjoy exploring and have similar goals. I would explore everywhere I could. First, the abandonments of Milwaukee and Chicago. Then I'd swing through Gary on my way to Detroit, where I'd spend some time before heading East to the subway tunnels of Cincinnati. Maybe I'd head to Toronto, since it's one of the cradles of urbex- then towards the East coast- New York or Boston, maybe. I'd then head South in search of old military forts, before turning West and hitting a few ghost towns and mines. Eventually I'd reach Seattle, where I'd spend time before coming back to Wisconsin along the Northern half of the US. Maybe if I was really ambitious I'd head North into Canada and eventually Alaska, in search of Cold War era military stations. For now, it's a dream. Maybe I'll pursue it once I get my degree. Who knows.
